ControlFreak Run: virtual controls
With ControlFreak Run the runner runs the course without any control stands in the forest, and the phone punches with GPS. As the course setter you place a QR code on the map. The runner opens the code with the phone camera and runs on run.controlfreak.se. The course is in the code, and nothing is sent to any server.
- 1Place the code on the map with the special object QR code for virtual controls (15–100 mm, default 40 mm). The code is generated from the course every time, so if you move a control the code follows. If the course has many controls the code is drawn larger than chosen, so that it can be scanned from paper. It is printed in the PDF.
- 2Click the course name in the course panel. Under Virtual controls you see the link, a preview of the QR code and Copy link. If the course cannot be run, the reason is shown there.
- 3The runner opens the code with the phone camera. The course opens on https://run.controlfreak.se, which handles the run, the punching and the result. The help for runners is there.
- The code is not available for Hittaut or forked courses. The map must have a coordinate system. The reason is shown in the course dialog.
- Score courses work too. The code carries the controls' points, the course's Time limit (min) and Penalty points per minute, and the runner runs with them in ControlFreak Run. Without a time limit there is no time limit and no penalty.
- GPS is unreliable in dense forest and between buildings. ControlFreak Run suits training, not competition.
- If you change the map after printing the code, the code still works as long as the controls have not moved.
